Head Board Dillema

I've been back and forth on what to do for a headboard.

I really want a unique, DIY, headboard.

Here's the wall I'm talking about in our bedroom:

The orange/red wall.

Some ideas I've had.

- Using a room divider / screen

- Putting up a wall decal

- Mounting a large canvas print of the 

two of us from our wedding in black and white

- Making a headboard, lined with foam and fabric

I found examples of some of these choices:

These are wood squares, lined with foam and
fabric then mounted to create a headboard

These are just square prints alined above the bed.
( I love that retro seat/shelf at the end of the bed and
YES those are drums as side tables!)

Distressed wood planks, mounted together and painted

Using room dividers/screens for a headboard.
Really pretty.

And this is pretty much amazing. 

This is also a fabric lined headboard,
the wood panel was just cut in the shape. foam liner glued and stapled,
then the patterned fabric was laid over. 

I do apologize if the photos shown above are anyone's personal photographs, I saved many pictures into an "inspiration" folder and did not consider the sources. I retrieved these images all from Pinterest. 

Hello I'm Jesi, and I have a problem...

I'm so addicted to Pinterest. Every chance I get, I'm on there. I've even made a folder on my desktop of inspirational pictures for my blog and home design. 

One idea I do have though, that I didn't get from Pinterest is what to put on our wall above the couch. I want a ton of white frames, different sizes to be scattered all over. And every frame will have a hot air balloon print inside, all with a faded vintage style. I figured the different colors will help tie the room together and well, I just LOVE hot air balloons. Then I can squeeze random frames with quotes about love, family, scriptures and so on. 

I do apologize for how disorganized this post is going to be, but I figured I'd post some inspirational pics:

I was looking for things to put above our bed and I thought this was a
nice & simple design. (obviously with our initials)

This is along the lines of what I was thinking for our living room,
but I don't know how I feel about the overly organized.
It's surprising really that someone who's as OCD as I am,
thinks that some chaos is a better route.

I've also had my eye on the empty wall in the kitchen.
Also painted the same accent tone as the wall in the living room.
I think Im going to use this as my inspiration for the kitchen and
put up some shelves. Decorate the shelves with frames, flowers and etc.
I could even stack three different frames that spell out E.A.T

Woo-to the-hoo!

Okay so I had to make a whole separate post about this because of the awesomeness level we are about to reach.

My sister, is giving us (drumroll please) her couch!

Okay so I know that its not as exciting when you have NO idea what it looks like but it is gorgeous and EXACTLY what I wanted for the design of the condo.


Its got a simplistic design and kinda vintage. The fabric is completely mod with a beautiful pattern. The colors are neutral enough (beige and cream) for me to play with colors and design for the room!

I did the goofiest happy dance of all time when she told me the good news!
YAY! I can't wait to post pics. :)

Theme

Okay so, Im done writing posts like the last one. Well, at least I hope I am.

Hi, I'm Jesi and I am a recovering "half is half empty" girl. I fell off the wagon lastnight but Im scrambling back on.

I get really into projects, like my wedding and etc.
This time its obviously making our new place look as nice as possible.

I had to convince myself last night that I can only do smuch,

without actually standing in the rooms.

Our move in date is not till February 1st.

I figured for now I can just post inspirations and pretty pictures
DIY furniture revamping, decor and so on.

SO THAT, will be the point of this blog.

For example: this step ladder towel rack

I'm putting a mental post it on that because I am definately using this idea for our bathroom.
The toilet & the shower is in a seperate room (which I like)
but it needs a little something in there.

Also, it might be a good thing Nick and I will be on a tight budget.
It'll force me to take these projects slow

which I tend to have a hard time doing with anything I set my mind to.

On that note:My dad is giving us the green couch they have in the office.
Im happy about it because its incredibly comfortable.

I am not so thrilled that I dont get to go shopping for a couch lol

I also thought we'd have a neutral colored couch but hey,

Beggers shant be choosers!

Here is the color scheme for the living room,

I think adding some bright accent pillows on the dark green couch is just what it needs.

He's also giving me back my large study table.
That one Im also torn about.

Its got wonderful potential for our bedroom and it'll give me a place to study.
But I have the urge to revamp it-

but that would be a very difficult project considering the size and detail.

So, if I don't paint it, Im thinking of applying a decorative pattern to the backing of the exposed shelves. Much like this...

I want the bedroom to have a very light, feel. So I'm going with this color scheme:

YAY!

Suitcase furniture? Yes please.

So, I've blogged about this before.

Turning old suitcases into furniture like coffee tables, side tables, etc.

Its super easy and looks adorable!

Add legs to it- short or high
( You can buy legs from stores like Lowes or Home Depot )

Stack them and add a mirror for an elegant touch

Turn it into a chair

Or a wall shelf / medicine cabinet

Its a decorative solution to storage!





Living in color.

This is the perfect representation of the accent walls in the condo we liked.

Im loving the clean white furniture, Im just afraid of it getting dirty too quickly.

I'd really like to get a big white down comforter and a fluffy white rug for the bedroom-

but I think I'll have to go with the cream or beige option.

Bathroom color palette:

The colors are cool and perfect for the clean feeling a bathroom needs.

Kitchen color palette:

I mean, how cute is this?

Now the dining room, is a very small space & is just an extension from the kitchen.

Keeping things plain and simple will help us avoid the cluttered look.

I LOVE country style dining rooms.
Distressed wooden tables, mismatched chairs, etc.
I'd keep the colors, clean and neutral.

Lastly, the living room.

I was thinking, I'd play off of the warm tone of the copper wall.

And tie all the colors in from other rooms, since this is the most open room.

Everyone who knows me, knows I love fall colors.
(Hence- my wedding colors)

I'm also a huge on using warm colors for areas like the living room or the bedroom.

It's far more inviting and I can see myself sitting with a book on a big fluffy couch.

Now the one piece of furniture I KNOW I want in the living room is a...

drum roll please............

A single chair in the room that creates a bold statement.
I have always, always, always wanted one.

Decorating Ideas

I can't wait to start decorating our place (once we find one)
I've been thinking of color schemes and designs. I'm thinking very simplistic, modern with a touch of bohemian... if that at all makes sense.

For the bathroom here's the color scheme I was thinking.

Something like this...

(Im not a big fan of the vase on the side or the decoration on the wall)

As for the kitchen, Im not sure what accent tone I'd like.

I know that I want shades of brown and cream but I cant decide if I want sage or red.

Anyways, we're looking at a few condos tonight, Ill update we find anything we like.
